The wood is carefully selected and obtained from Transylvania forests, at a great altitude. Transylvania is famous for its abundance of ancestral wood pastries. That means that there's an ample selection of trees with fantastically high resonance qualities. That aspect is paramount in violin making. As a Romanian luthier I feel lucky to have such wonderful selection of high-quality wood at my disposal.
It takes a lot of time and dedication to become a professional violin maker. Through the years of practice and “stealing knowledge”, I learned how to create instruments of the highest quality, and mold them to the exact needs of the artists. A selection of spruce, maple, and willow is readily available for artists looking for a custom violin, viola, or cello. Wood density and body length are adapted to fit the artists’ sonic preferences
With more than 40 years of experience and a never-ending passion for the craft of violin making, I commit myself fully to the creation of every single instrument, while applying various techniques and making meticulous material choices to reach the full musical potential of every piece that has a sonic resemblance to the pieces of the craft’s greatest - Stradivarius, Amati, Guarneri, and others.
About Me
To truly get experienced in violin making, one has to commit to a lot of hard work, dedication, passion, and love for the stringed instruments. And to properly channel the emotions and the effort, one should learn, steal if necessary, the specific techniques of the craft. Every luthier has been taught the techniques one way or the other. But the thing that makes one an excellent violin builder is the fact that he is on a never-ending journey of discovering new ways to build an instrument, even after hundreds of violins made. The ones that strive for perfection in every move of the chisel are in fact, the ones that make a new violin sound like a relic.
R. Haley - New York
I was looking to buy master violin. I've decided to order one from violin maker Szasz Friderich. Beautiful violin in tone and appearance - Astonishing beauty! Utterly exquisite.
A. Matteo - Italia
Suono profondo, ottimi armonici, spettacolare per un violino di nuova manifattura. Bellissimo.
B. Dannert - Denmark
Even though it is a brand new violin, it sounds like a mature violin. It has a deep and dark lower register. The high register is sweet and penetrating. Each note sings out in fast passage work
